Ms. Karen Rene’ Whitlock Kopanezos, age30, of Decatur, GA passed away August 10, 2010. Karen was born in East Point, GA. She was a certified archivist and a lifelong student of American Government. Karen was a devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with her children and being totally involved in all of their activities. She graduated high school from Bible Baptist Christian School in Hampton, GA in 1998 and graduated from Clayton State University with a BA in American History in 2008. Karen enjoyed her work, history, basketball and volleyball. She was a volunteer with the Atlanta History Center. Survivors are her children, Gregory George Kopanezos and Isabel Elise Kopanezos of Decatur; parents, Robert and Gayle Whitlock of Locust Grove; sister, Jennifer Gritts (Chad) of McDonough; brothers, Andy Whitlock (Aimee) of Summerville, SC and David Whitlock (Patricia) of Littleton, CO; fiancé, Jim McSweeney of Decatur; grandparents, James and Rena Peppers of Locust Grove; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A memorial service for Karen will be Friday, August 13, 2010 – 11:00 AM at Locust Grove First Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Bowers officiating.
